Periodic Study Days on Sustainable Local Development
"The Botanical Identity of Djelfa City"
#Preface
In light of climate change and increasing environmental pressures faced by Algerian cities, sustainable local development has become an urgent necessity based on a deep understanding of the local identity in all its environmental, economic, cultural, and urban dimensions.
The botanical identity is one of the most prominent of these dimensions, representing environmental, historical, and health value, in addition to being a cornerstone of ecological urban planning. Within this framework, Djelfa city hosts the first edition of the multidisciplinary periodic study days on sustainable local development under the theme: "The Botanical Identity of Djelfa City".
This scientific event aims to strengthen the culture of field research and participatory approaches that utilize environmental data to design balanced local development strategies. Accordingly, a multidisciplinary technical team has been formed to conduct a comprehensive botanical survey of all city neighborhoods, including parks and green spaces within the urban area. This process will culminate in producing a scientific botanical guide for Djelfa, along with proposing a qualitative urban planting plan that considers environmental, social, and aesthetic standards.
